The Race Continues

The Race Continues

“……. let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith …”  Hebrews 12:1-2

Robert-W-Bignold-3-2Robert W. Bignold has finished the race!  And he ran it well.  Bob persevered in the Vision and his life impacted generations as he inspired men around the world to reach beyond themselves with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”  John 15:16

Bob championed righteousness in our ranks.  He was the personification of a Full Gospel Businessman, a real “Man of Business * Man of Purpose”.  There is not enough space here to adequately detail his accomplishments, but just know that we followed him simply because he was a man of highest integrity.  Against adversity, he stood for what was right.  In 2009, when several of us were looking for a place to serve the Lord as businessmen, we were drawn to Full Gospel America, led by decent and honorable men like Peter Reding and Bob Bignold, Mighty Men of God.  And today we remain! Our desire is to continue to build upon their foundation.

We found a home.  In FGBMFA, we live the experience that “His Banner Over Us Is Love”.  Bob once wrote something which I came to respect was a core value of his “… where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty…”, as he was led by that.  Because the Holy Spirit was preeminent in this Fellowship, we had the liberty to grow, to exercise our gifts and talents.  This Fellowship belongs to the Lord and Bob set the example clearly that we are simply stewards, entrusted to lead in the quest of the Great Commission.

Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth, shall you not know it?
Isaiah 43:19

Changing of the Guard

In the fall of 2015, Bob expressed his intention to stand for election as President of FGBMFA for only one more year at the 2016 Annual National Convention.  He felt that responsibility needed to pass to a younger man.  The Leadership Team was encouraged to seek the Lord for direction.  As I pressed in prayer, time after time, I sensed the Lord was showing me someone who had not been on my radar at the time.  I confided with a couple of men to whom I hold myself accountable and asked them to continue praying.  One day Bob called me, being one who does not have difficulty speaking his mind, he was a bit tentative… “Roy, uh, this succession thing”.  I stopped him!  Something leaped in my spirit and I blurted out, “Bob have you considered Phil Harrison?”  He was so relieved because that is who the Lord had shown him.  But he was feeling pulled otherwise; he openly shared about his thoughts of my service in the Fellowship over the years and having been voted in as Executive Vice President by the men, he felt it was anticipated I may want to move into the office of President.  I quickly told him it was not what the Lord was showing me; and like him, I believe none of us own titles- we serve where God places us.  We agreed the Lord was raising up Phil Harrison, a solid, Spirit-filled businessman, with an IT background to boot! Phil has a passion for marketplace outreaches.  You can read his bio at

This year has certainly been a time of change.  First we lost our beloved Peter Reding in January and then Bob on July 28.  Writing this message is especially hard in the sense that the loss I feel [we all feel]is surreal.  We were just together, celebrating the goodness and faithfulness of the Lord at our Convention in Dallas.

Additionally, Stewart Kent felt led to step down after ten years as the National Secretary and the Lord raised up Dick McBain from Georgia as his successor.  We have indeed experienced considerable changes since January 2016.

The Lord used Bob Bignold to take the Fellowship to new heights and to establish a Leadership Team to carry us forward… and our work will continue!

Excerpt from letter by Alan Schmook, National Administrator:

“At our 10th Annual Convention in Dallas this past June, Bob and Roy Brian introduced Phil Harrison as the nominee for a newly created position of Vice President/President-elect. Both the position and Phil were adopted at the annual National Council of Delegate’s meeting. However, our bylaws (Section 7.12.1) at this time stipulate that the successor to the office of President is the Executive Vice President (Roy Brian).”

“Upon Bob’s passing, Roy became the Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of FGBMFA and will serve until the 2017 Annual National Convention.”  [Upon confirmation by the National Council of Delegates, the reigns of the Fellowship will be in good hands with Phil Harrison-rb]

While all leaders and members have a voice in governing the Fellowship, I have asked the following men to serve with me on the Transition Steering Committee:

Phil Harrison- Vice President/President Elect
Alan Schmook- National Administrator
Greg Simpson- National Treasurer
Dick McBain- National Secretary
Chris Burge- Vice President/Joshua Ministry

Moving Forward

Here’s an overview of programs that will continue to expand and impact the marketplace:

  • Marketplace Outreaches– watch for something great to be announced.
  • New Cities for the Fellowship Campaign– incorporate strategies to engage, raise up and install new chapters in cities where the Fellowship is not present.
  • Joshua Ministry- (Bob’s legacy) a Next Generation army is being raised.
  • Holy Smoke Hangout- continues to move forward into new regions around the country, connecting and reaching youth through Live Bands, Christian Rappers, Poets, Testimonies and Guest Speakers.
  • Godmobile Ministry– growing; approximately 25 outreaches per year.
  • Prison Ministry– truly setting the captives free.
  • Partners of the Fellowship (POTF) – by God’s grace, after a period of healing, we’ve asked Barbara to pray about continuing in the role of directing this critical women’s ministry- the backbone of the Fellowship!
  • National Office Transition– Accounting & Membership being realigned for better service to our members.
  • Website– Updates to be implemented for easier navigation.  Chapters are encouraged to send in their activities for posting.
  • Social Media Expansion– the Fellowship will be expanding and marketing, using some of the latest communication platforms.
  • Fellowship Newsletter”, formerly “President’s Newsletter”.
  • War Stories for the Joshua Generation will continue.  We welcome men in the field to contribute stories for both postings.  Please email to;
  • Full Gospel Global Forum– FGBMFA will continue in its role under Douglas Raine’s capable leadership.
  • National Convention– Plans for the 2017 National Convention are being formulated.  Bob was pleased for us to return to the Hilton DFW one more time… we will honor that.  We like the fact of DFW being centrally located for all members’ travel and price point considerations.

Please join me in praying for the Fellowship- that God will touch the hearts of men in Full Gospel America to pray for a spiritual awakening.  Pray for a fresh move of His Holy Spirit on our men.  Pray that our Father will raise up men with a passion to serve; leaders with a commitment to lead, and to give us the men of  the Next Generation to mentor.  Pray for laborers in the coming harvest and for the Lord to provide the finances for the work ahead.

In my temporary assignment and in whatever more the Lord may have for me….

“I will stand my watch
And set myself on the rampart,
And watch to see what He will say to me…”
“…Write the vision and make it plain on tablets…”
“That he may run who reads it….” Hab2:1, 2

So there it is, the Vision! God’s original Vision given through Demos.  That’s our mandate, say it, repeat, write so plain that even someone running by can read it.

We’ve got work to do and the Leadership Team is proud to serve with Full Gospel men across America, some who have worked in the fields together for many years.  We will be successful if we hold fast to ‘The Vision’ and sincerely purpose in our heart to fulfill the Great Commission.  Thank you for standing with us as we forge ahead with the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Thank you for making a difference in a world desperately needing Light.

The Race continues!  So let us ALL run with endurance the race that is set before us.

We speak the Father’s blessing over you, your family, business and ministry, in the name of Jesus.

National Council of Directors
Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America

As you read the Presidents Newsletter for February 2016 you will observe that January and February have been very busy months for many of the Officers and Directors of FGBMFA. On January 21st and 22nd the National Officers and Directors of FGBMFA held our mid-year Directors Meeting in conjunction with the Georgia Men’s Advance. Following that Directors meeting’s the FGBMFA Officers and Directors attended the 900 man Georgia Men’s Advance.  The Georgia Men’s Advance is the largest FGBMFA event in America.

I want to begin this month’s Newsletter by commending the Georgia Men’s Advance Board of Directors for both the quality of the speakers, and the variety of the sessions which they provided in this year’s Advance.  I also want to thank the GMA Board of Directors for hosting the Midyear Meeting of our FGBMFA Board of Directors so close to their Men’s Advance, knowing that our presence no doubt placed additional burdens on both the GMA Board Members and the GMA Staff. Thank you, for your kindness and your generosity which you expressed toward us while we were attending this year’s Advance.  The GMA Board of Directors is to be commended; you are an inspiration to the rest of the Fellowship in America.

I left Atlanta late Sunday afternoon, after the last meeting of the GMA, and flew to Seattle, Washington on the first leg of my trip to the “Full Gospel Global Forum’s” annual Prayer Summit, which this year was held in Singapore.  The Global Prayer Summit was scheduled to start in Singapore on the first Thursday following the Georgia Men’s Advance.

On Monday the day after the GMA, I and several other Directors were scheduled to travel to Portland, Oregon to participate in “A  Celebration of Peter Reding’s Life”, the man whom God had used to incorporate and organize the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America in mid – 2006. To my relief Stanley Abbot, one of our Seattle Chapter leaders volunteered to drive me the three and a half hours south of Seattle to attend Peters Celebration, which had been organized by Peter’s family.  At the ‘Celebration of Life’ ceremonies in Portland, I was joined by FGBMFA Executive Board Members Roy Brian, Alan Schmook, and Greg Simpson who had flown to Portland earlier in the day to also honor Peter. Keep in mind that these three men, had also attended the Georgia Men’s Advance, therefore they had to first travel from the GMA to their homes in Texas and Oklahoma on Sunday before joining me in Portland, Oregon on Monday.  On the day following the Celebration of Peter’s life, Roy, Alan, and Greg flew back to their homes in Texas and Oklahoma respectively. It is an honor to serve with dedicated Directors, like these men.

On that same Monday, our FGBMFA National Director in charge of the Joshua Generation, Chris Burge, flew to Seattle to meet up with me before we were to leave the following day for the Singapore Prayer Summit.

On that same Tuesday morning on the other side of our nation FGBMFA Director Douglas Raine, who sits on the FGGF Board, left his home in Commerce, TX, for Singapore; and FGBMFA Director John Fay, left his home in Boston, MA. Both men were bound for the Singapore Prayer Summit.  Both Douglas and Chris Burge had attended the FGBMFA Director Meetings and the Georgia Men’s Advance the previous week in Atlanta, and FGBMFA Director John Fay had attended the Vermont Men’ Advance just two days before leaving for Singapore. Our fifth FGBMFA Delegate Phil Harrison, who lives in Nevada, had flown to Singapore the previous week to visit with his wife’s family (who live in Singapore) prior to the start of the 2016 Global Prayer Summit.

The 2016 Singapore Prayer Summit was attended by over thirty nations from Europe, Central America, North America, Asia, Australia, and Africa. I can understand why some of our men may not appreciate the “spiritual significance” of the FGGF Global Prayer Summit or appreciate the time and money that our men expend in attending this Event. I believe that the FGGF prayer summit is one of our Fellowships most important spiritual events, that is bringing Global unity among the Brothers as well as an event that will help to bring a spiritual awakening in America.  I want to personally thank every Director who has journeyed to the Prayer Summit to seek the Spirit of God on behalf of our Fellowship.

It is also in these global prayer events that we witness with our own eyes and hear with our own ears the marvelous things that God is doing in the Fellowship in other areas of the Globe. This year we heard that the Full Fellowship Business Men’s Fellowship in Nigeria has grown to include some 3500 chapters, the largest Fellowship Nation in the world. (Next year the Prayer Summit will be held in Nigeria.) We heard from the men in Australia, how the men from Singapore have helped their Fellowship to begin to grow again. We heard in Singapore how that Lance Wallnua’s “Seven Mountains of Culture” teaching” is resonating in Asia, and we witnessed firsthand the anointing and the enthusiasm of the men in Asia, Africa and other nations where the Spirit of God has been bringing about a spiritual awakening for the last twenty years.  And each of us fasted and prayed for God to arise and bring a cleansing awakening in our own respective nations.

When we come together in the “Full Gospel Global Fellowship” in fasting and prayer it is pleasing to the Lord.  I must admit however that we delegates from North and Central America were, because of the time difference, a little like Jesus’ disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane, our eyes were heavy with sleep. Our spirits were willing but our flesh was weak.  But that is precisely the sacrifice that makes our pilgrimage to the prayer summit pleasing to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Last week I received “a prophetic bulletin” from Rick Joyner entitled, “The Great Tsunami.”  In that bulletin Joyner describes a prophetic Vision that he had received in 1987, about the same time that Demos wrote the “Vision Intensified”.

“In 1987 I had a two-and-a-half-day prophetic experience in which I was shown a panorama of coming events that I wrote about in my book titled, “The Harvest”. Most of what I saw coming has now taken place, but the biggest event of all, the harvest that was at the end of the age, has not. It is now approaching.

Jesus said, “The harvest is the end of the age” (see Matthew 13:39). This will be the greatest ingathering of new believers in history, greater than all the previous ones combined. In my vision, this came in two great waves. The first wave was the largest up until this time, but it was only the ingathering of those who were called to be the laborers in the coming even much greater one.

This first wave began shortly after I was given this vision and lasted for almost twenty years. During that time more people came to Christ around the world than had come to Him in all of history up until that time. Some estimates were that an average of almost four hundred thousand people a day were coming to Christ during its peak. There were countries where people were being born again faster than they were being born. Hundreds of millions came to Christ in Africa, South and Central America, and Asia.

Though this wave hardly seemed to touch North America and Europe, they provided many of the evangelists and workers for the other great revivals around the world, and their time is coming. I then saw a period of relative calm before the greatest of all moves of God began. “We are near the end of that time and are about to be hit by a wave of revival like the earth has never seen before.” Click here to read the entire article.

Remember men, we went to the FGGF Prayer Summit to ask the “Lord of Harvest” to anoint our respective nations with the spirit of unity and with the power of the Holy Spirit, and we came in obedience to the Vision that God  gave to Demos Shakarian as is expressed in “The Vision Intensified – A New Wave of Revival”.   Next Year the Full Gospel Global Fellowship will meet in Abuja Nigeria. And one year later in 2018, the Full Gospel Global Fellowship will meet right here in America.  Will the FGGF Prayer Summit in America coincide with the great outpouring of the Spirit that Rick Joyner saw in his 1987 vision?

 I believe it May

In Memory of Peter Reding

In Memory of Peter Reding

I am not sure when I first met Peter Reding but it was sometime in the late Nineteen Eighties or the early Nineteen Nineties.  At that time Peter had just been Elected National Director of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in the USA, for the State of Oregon.  It was a time of great change in the International Fellowship.  Demos Shakarian, the man who God had used to start the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International and had served as the Fellowships National and International President for forty years had suffered a serious stroke, and several years later at eighty years of age he had passed on to his eternal reward.

Demos’ son had followed him as International President of FGBMFI and National President of FGBMF-USA. But conditions in the American Fellowship were not going well. The number of Chapters in the Fellowship in America had fallen from more than 1600 chapters at the time Demos stroke in 1984 had fallen to less than 300 chapters by 2005. Peter had continued to faithfully direct the work of the Oregon Chapters of the Fellowship during the difficult years of 1992 to 2005.

Then at 4 AM in the morning of July 21, 2006 the Lord woke Peter Reding out of a sound sleep and told him to “incorporate a new organization in America,” which was to be called the “Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America”, and the Lord told Peter that he was organize it in the image and likeness of the original Fellowship, the Fellowship that was incorporated by Demos in 1952.

I believe that God selected Peter Reding for the task because he was first of all a man focused on fulfilling the Vison that God had given to Demos when the Fellowship was started in 1952, “that of reaching men for Jesus Christ, and training and equipping them to fulfill the great Commision”.

And Peter Reding, a certified Public Accountant was an educated man, a Harvard Graduate, a man familiar with the by-laws of the original Fellowship, a man familiar with the legal requirements for establishing a tax exempt organizations, (Peter had established many such organization’s) and Peter was a man with a built-in moral compass, a man who had the legal and accounting skills required for such an undertaking, and perhaps most important, he was a man who could not be moved by opposition.

And it was not long until opposition came.  Within a month or so of incorporating the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America, Peter received a Letter from a FGBMFI Attorney threatening him with Legal action if he did not cease and desist from using the name “Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America”.  Peter sent the Fellowship Attorney cursory reply, and continued to operate the new organization under the name “Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America”.  The new Fellowship held its first National Convention in April 2007.

By September of 2009 most of the original Fellowship Chapters had joined the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America.

Then on October 7th of 2009, Peter Reding and every National and Chapter Leader of FGBMFA received a threatening letter from Westly B Carter, a Tulsa Oklahoma Attorney, representing the International Fellowship. That letter charged each FGBMFA Leader with trademark infringement, and threatened each of them with Federal Trademark Violation and Penalties of $1,000,000.00 per infringing act.  Many of the men in the new Fellowship in America were intimidated, but not Peter Reding. Peter contacted Portland Attorney Martin Medeiros an attorney specializing in trademark law to represent FGBMFA. Martin Medeiros wrote an eight page rebuttal of the International Fellowships Position, and charged them with attempting to intimidate FGBMFA. The Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America has never received an answer to that letter from the International Fellowship.

Peter Reding was God’s man god selected to incorporate the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America, and the word that he heard from the Lord to incorporate the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America, on that early Morning in July of 2006 has been substantiated by the great work that is being accomplished by the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America, and the anointing that is being Manifested in our National Meetings.

In Jesus’ Name,

Robert W. Bignold

National President,
Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America
